For our PIP, our goal was to create an informative website so that teachers could learn to use instagram in their classroom! You will find videos below of how to create your own instagram posts, stories, polls, and much more! We have also included tips & tricks to get you started on this online classroom community.
Please look at the following to figure out how to make your own instagram post!

This can be an image you already have saved or a picture you take right in that instant 2. You can add filters to your image 3. Add the caption to your image, this will appear underneath the picture you post. 4. You can 'tag' certain students or add a location depending on the post you make 5. Post it to instagram! |
How to post a story to your instagram: 1. One of the unique features of instagram is the ability to post a 'story' to your account that is visible to your follows for 24 hours. These are a great way to share reminders with your students 2. Swipe right on the home screen, and you can take a live picture, use a saved picture, or a customized screen like the one in the video. 3. Type away! 4. Feel free to add anything extra to your story (stickers, GIFs, emojis) 5. Post to your account. You are also able to see who has viewed your story to ensure that the message has been viewed by the class! |

Advice?
Use the platform that works best for your kiddos!
Make sure it is accessible for all students (and if its not, try to do something special with those who might feel left out -paper surveys, emails, etc.)!
Decide if you have a "phones off" time - Do you stop answering direct messages @ 9 PM or Midnight?
Think about closure- Will you delete your Instagram each year, or keep it as an active mode of contact for students past and present?

For example, we felt that as student teachers, who are not fully protected by/connected to a board, it would be best to deactivate our instagrams following our practicum. Although we would love to stay connected with our students, we feared the dynamic might change once we are out of their classrooms and no longer their teachers.
